The first thing you need to do before starting to drive is obtain your provisional driving licence if you do not have one.
You can obtain a provisional driving licence form from the post office or by contacting DVLA on 0870 240 0009.
You can now apply for your driving licence on line.
You may apply for your provisional licence up to three months before your seventeenth birthday (however it would not start until your birthday
You must pass the Theory Test before you can take the Practical Driving Test.
The Theory Test is computer based with 45 multiple choice questions and 5 questions relating to a scenario shown on the screen. This is followed by the Hazard perception part of the test, both parts of the test have to complete within 57 minutes.
To pass the test you must get at least 43 correct out of 50 for the questions and 44 out of 75 for the hazard perception.

The Driving test lasts for approximately 40 minuets and will contain one manoeuvre and a period of independent driving or following the instructions of a Sat Nav.
I have been a driving instructor for over 12 years and over that time I have achieved a first time pass rate well above the local and national pass rates. I will teach you to drive and obtain test standard in as few lessons as possible
